Born in Sebree, Ky. Jim Dempsey started to play Guitar at age 12 when his

Mother paid $12.88 from grocery money she had saved.

After a few talent contests, some winners & some losses Jim formed

his first band " The Downbeats".

He landed his first T.V. job at the ripe young age of 14 with Al & the

Pioneers at WEHT T.V. in Henderson. The Show was Live and Jim was

very much country at this time.

With the Marriage of Country & Rock & Roll in the late 50's most country artist

were adding Drums and Singers to their sound.

In October 1959 Jim Dempsey recorded his first 45 record and it received

good reviews and air play.

1962 Jim recorded his second 45 record. It didn't do well, with the change

of the music industry with The "Beatles" burning up the air-waves with their

new sound. Record Executives told Jim his music was out of date, even Elvis

was taking a back seat.

Jim did not record again until 1975 when he recorded his first Gospel Album

on 33-1/3 vinyl. Take ME Back to the Old Time Religion" did receive some

air play.

Shortly after the record release Jim moved to Nashville to be a songwriter

only to have another door slamed in his face. Most Gospel artist write their

own material.

For the next several years with a regular day job, Jim continued to write &

record  both country & gospel.

After self teaching himself piano,Jim starting receiving air-play again on some

of his older material

Nashville producer Mike Schrimpf. Jim never sounded better. At this time

2 singles are planed from the CD. The CD intitled GOSPEL GOLD
